These poems are from Sonnets from After Middle Age and Other Verse (Haverford, PA: Goodenough, 1997). Ward noted that Fish of Sufficiency was written to commemorate the work of the committee convened in Chuuk in 1972 to decide on the orthography to be used in the Trukese-English dictionary.  When he recited it at the closing festive meal, he indicated that Wúkúnné (sufficiency) meant that wúkúkún aach angaang epwe nénnéén aach mwechen (the extent of our work will be the equal of our desire).
